One Battle After Another

One Battle After Another revew by Alex

One Battle After Another is a politically driven Dark Comedy/ Action film, directed and written by Paul Thomas Anderson and written by Thomas Pynchon. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Bob, a former member of a revolutionary group who gets dragged back into the fold 16 years later by a former enemy re-emerging.

Going into this film I didn’t really know what to expect, the extent of my knowledge was of Leonardo DiCaprio being the lead actor.

The best way I can describe this film is that it is an experience. I can’t say that it’s for everyone, but it’s worth experiencing at least once even if you never watch it again.

I can appreciate the amount of effort, talent and overall love that had been poured into this film, from the unique camera movements, to the environments, and the top notch acting from the cast.

While my eyes were glued to the screen and were thoroughly absorbing everything, I must admit that for a good chunk of the film… I didn’t have the foggiest clue of what was going on nor why? This film makes you think and interpret many of the different scenes how you want to. It lets you come to your own conclusions on what to take away from it and what message you want from the movie. As for me… yeah I don’t think this film was targeted towards my demographic and that’s okay. But for those who are the target audience, you’re very likely in for a cinematic treat.

Youth #Gottit View:

It’s clearly Awards season. This is every inch the Oscar/BAFTA style film that’s always nominated and wins. There are some incredible solo performances from the actors in this incredibly intense political/action drama. There will be a lot of talk around this movie over the coming months!!!

Youth #Gottit View:

This is not the film you think it is. It’s so much more than what you see in the trailer and plays to an older viewer as well as the youngsters. One of the cleverest animated films we’ve seen in a while, with some lovely subtle nods to adult relationships taking many different forms. A very special movie experience – Highly Recommended!!!

Youth #Gottit View:

This isn’t a film that Connor would naturally be drawn to. But he enjoyed it far more than he expected to. Think ‘Creed in a Row Boat’ rather than ‘The Boys in the Boat’ and that’s more the level of entrainment you’re likely to get from see it. Surprisingly exciting throughout with a great story!!!
