The Marbles review by Harrison

The Marbles is an incredibly thought-provoking and powerful documentary which inspires reflection into what it should mean to be a Brit in the modern day. It beautifully lays out the importance of returning these precious artefacts from Greece while simultaneously honouring all that is the British museum and it’s role of protecting worldwide history within the UK.

(Bill Nighy is one of the many stars that appears in the documentary)

The Marbles leaves you with a sense of hope for the future – optimistic that the steps that need to be taken, will be, so that we can remain proud of British cultural identity despite the bad from our colonial past.

This isn’t a film I’d normally watch, but I’m really pleased I did as it’s a story everyone should know. There’s a good balance in the arguments and at no point does anyone looks like the ‘baddie’ involved in present day. The core of the story is about doing the right thing ‘now’ whatever the circumstances that came before!!!

Should the Parthenon Marbles stay in the UK or should they be returened to Greece? That’s the question. There’s so much to enjoy in the incredibly thought provoking documentary. And there’s also a few well known hollywood stars that pop up throughout the film. A must watch for any youngsters interested in art, history or politics!!!
