Nintendo Switch – JackBox Party Pack 10 & JackBox Survey Scramble review by Alex

Jackbox Party Pack 10 is a collection of party games for everyone to enjoy, included are five different activities; Fixy Text, Tee K.O. 2, Time Jinx, Dodo Re Mi, and Hypnotorious. To get the most out of this pack you will want to have at-least four people in order to play all the games, and up to eight or nine depending on the game. Getting everyone involved is simple, you can either use the app or website to join in and only one copy of the game is needed. Moderation and family friendly options are toggleable making this game appealing to everyone!

My personal favourite game out of the pack had to be Time Jinx, you and your other players are time travellers and you are tasked with travelling to different historical events. You just have to know what year they happened (or close to it), along with some other related side quests like blending in within the time period. The person with the lowest score at the end of the game wins! I particularly liked this one as it has more recent events and more historical ones, from knowledge of Soviet leaders to weird television adverts in the early 2000s. I haven’t even scraped the surface of what other subjects there are during my playthroughs.

My only real critique of the pack would be some of the more American centric questions that pop up from time to time, while it is understandable as Jackbox Games is a Chicago based company but for anyone outside of the US (which is a lot of people) it makes the game a bit difficult. I appreciated the button that limits the American centric questions, I still found myself and my friends stumped on some of the more obscure early American President questions.

Overall this Party Pack is an Excellent addition to the Jackbox Party Pack Franchise, and is a must have for when you have friends and or family over or online through services like Discord. Definitely worth picking up on your preferred platform!

JackBox Survey Scramble is a quiz game that tests your knowledge on a variety of subjects in unique and entertaining ways. Included are 6 different game modes; HiLo, Bounce, Squares, Speed, Dares, and Dash. To get the most out of this pack you will want to have at-least two people in order to play the game modes (although I would recommend at least four), and up to ten players excluding the Audience. Getting everyone involved is simple, you can either use the app or website to join in and only one copy of the game is needed. Moderation and family friendly options are toggleable making this game appealing to everyone!

My personal favourite game mode out of these was Bounce, control of the paddle is alternated between two teams and in order to move the paddle you must give answers with varying popularity to move position. I found this to be chaotically fun and challenging, the added pressure of the ball bouncing and needing to come up with a word that was just right to bounce the ball to prevent the other team from scoring. Reusing words came with a penalty to up the ante as they would shrink the paddle making things harder, on top of the ball getting faster with every answer it made for very entertaining gameplay.

Overall Jackbox Survey Scramble is definitely worth a pickup for any social gathering or online games night, with constantly refreshing surveys and answers it’s a no brainer. Definitely worth picking up on your preferred platform!

Youth #Gottit View:

September 5 is less about the actual Munich 1972 terrorist attack on the Olympics. And more about how live coverage of such events were first broadcast. This is a fascinating approach to the story from nees medias prospective, although it is worth having a good knowleged of what happened to feel the full impact of the movie!!!

A Working Man

By CINEMA

A Working Man review by Alex

A Working man is an action thriller movie starring Jason Statham as Levon Cade, a former covert operative who is settling down to the life of a civilian construction manager in order to get closer to his daughter. However he is forced out of retirement when his boss’ daughter is abducted by an underworld organisation.

This production has some familiar names and faces behind it, most notably Sylvester Stallone as one of the writers, Jason Statham as the main protagonist, and David Harbour making an appearance just to name a few. Locations were plentiful and did not feel confined to a fixed area (although not without their issues), really broadening the situations the characters were put in. However outside of these few points the film really falls flat…

What I found most jarring about the film was the very obvious fact it was filmed in the UK while being set in the US, whether that’s the very English type buildings to the clearly English traffic lights, to worst of all the UK plug socket with a US Travel adaptor slapped on it. I felt it ruined the immersion and has left me wondering why they didn’t just set it in the UK? They must have their reasons but I just see it as an unnecessary complication, surely it’s much more expensive to bring over US cars and bring over left hand drive cars, compared to just setting it in the UK and using locally sourced vehicles. The American Elements could’ve stayed too, with the easy vail of the characters moved there for “blahdy blah” reason.

While these elements were distracting, I did not feel entirely bored while watching the film. Something was always happening with nice gaps between action scenes which were cool to watch, but the script felt unfinished. It had potential with it’s concept but I just did not get attached to any of the characters, I could tell that the actors were trying their best with what they had but ultimately the dialogue was base level at best and some of the actions performed felt disjointed.

The film does what it says on the tin and falls within it’s targeted genres, but outside of that it’s not going to be winning any awards. If your a fan of Jason Statham give it a go, but it most certainly isn’t as solid as some of his back catalogue of films.

In Cinemas 28/3/25 (15) 2.5 Stars

Youth #Gottit View:

The cast do their best to make this film work (And it’s a really good cast) – but A Working Man doesn’t really work. The script is bad and it’s really hard to belive the story is set in the US, when it’s clearly shot in the UK. It will be a must see for Stath fans. But it’s not the best of his work!
