DC Studios – Superman review by Con!!!
In Cinemas 11/7/25 (12A) 3.5 Stars
Youth #Gottit View:
We liked Superman. But struggled to love it as much as we wanted to. It’s fun, action packed and full of coulour. This DC film feels far more like what we’ve come to expect from the Marvel movies and that’s not personally what we look for in DC films. David is great as Superman/Clark though!!!

Alex at the BFI Film on Film 1977 Star Wars Screening

George Lucas’ Star Wars (1977) is a Sci’Fi Adventure Movie that went on to shape the genres and the movie industry as a whole. Starring Mark Hamill as the main protagonist Luke Skywalker, a young farm boy who had stumbled upon an R2 Unit containing a plea for help and stolen plans that could aid the rebellion against their adversary The Galactic Empire.

I had the pleasure to view this film in one of it’s most earliest (publicly released) forms pulled straight from the BFI National Archive during their Film on Film Festival 2025, fantastically preserved on the original 1977 dye transfer IB Technicolor British release print. This was my first time ever seeing the original cut as I never had the opportunity to watch the originals or even the early home releases, quite a few edits had been made over the years from the addition of the “Episode 4, A New Hope” title to the special editions more drastic in-film alterations. Here none of that was present and for the first time in a long time I can confirm that “Han Shot First”, to which the whole audience during my screening erupted in cheers.

Big Thanks to the BFI for inviting me down to Southbank for this extremely rare showing, and for the sneak peek at the original continuity script for Star Wars.

In the Sci-Fi fandom world – this was like having an Oasis ticket. Seing this iconic film as it was originally released has become something of a legendary thing over the decades. Fingers crossed Disney will release it one day to a much wider audience. Please, please for the 50th anniversary?!!!!

Ballerina (From the World of John Wick) review by Con
In Cinemas 6/6/25 (15) 4.5 Stars
Youth #Gottit View:
I always go into spin off movies expecting to be a bit duped as a fan. But Ballerina is very much a John Wick film – nobody will be disappointed. Think Kill Bill with the characters of John Wick and that’s Ballerina – an absolutely incredible action film. Highly Recommended!!!

If you love the John Wick franchise you are in for a treat. This is every inch a John Wick movie – action packed, full of unique fight scenes and our John turns up just enough and with relevant reasons, to make fans feel like they’ve not been duped with another pointless spin-off. Kill Bill meets John Wick – Highly Recommended!!!

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning review by Alex

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning is the eighth instalment in the Mission Impossible Franchise. Starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, the man willing to put everything on the line to save the world and look cool while doing so. Many familiar faces return from previous instalments, alongside our essential main crew from the previous instalment Dead Reckoning Part one and earlier.

I like that this instalment really ties everything together, even from the earlier films it all loops back into this franchise’s plot as a whole in ways that you did and didn’t expect. The characters feel truly alive and that even for the newer characters they are all really likeable in their own unique ways. With a powerful soundtrack to back up the film in it’s intense and emotional scenes, it’s a recipe for a great action filled movie watching experience.
I feel that Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning delivers everything new and existing fans could hope for, and then some. The soundtrack is excellent, absolutely stellar stunts, and as always a great cast to back it all up. I could definitely see this movie winning at some of the awards, and is a must watch for fans alike.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning comes with lots of fun moments, as we’ve all come to expect from the Mission Impossible franchise. It’s a bit long – but a solid addition to the series, with a fantastic finale.
