Suicide Squad – Kill the Justice League

Suicide Squad – Kill the Justice League Review

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a looter shooter game where you play as one of the Four Suicide squad members as you plan to take out the Justice League members one by one. Brainiac has arrived on the planet and has converted the worlds mightiest heroes into subservient slaves who are helping him destroy the earth and rebuild it into a clone of his former planet Colu. You (As Task Force X) have been forced by Amanda Waller to find a way to bring down Brainiac. And any deviancy will be met by a very painful headache (She’ll blow your head off).

This game’s story works for a lot of reasons. For starters I appreciated the way they integrated the creation of side missions in the main story. Generally in most games they feel quite shoehorned in however in this one it flows well , mostly as the story has the squad track down different DC characters so you can take down the heroes, and those characters in turn will have requests for you. Also, the cutscenes in this game are incredible. The graphics alone are enough to make this game’s cut scenes a cut above the rest ( pun intended) but the general goofiness of the squad really shines, with a lot of the game being laugh out loud funny! The story also has a nice transition from story game to online multiplayer objective game which is so seamless that you might not even notice that you’re now playing for yourself rather than beating the story.

The four characters (Bing Deadshot, Harley Quinn , Cpt Boomerang and King Shark) are so incredibly well made. They have ridiculously fun traversal abilities, and all have their positives and negatives in a way that makes it so that you can play any of them based on how much fun you find them, and not be negatively affected because of it. The game’s weapon customisation also feels very nice , with not too many upgrades so you can stick with the weapons that you get early story mode and still be fully capable in any boss fights. This game has a very unique skill tree which allows for you to customise your character along three different tracks, with specific options that you can change when you need to so you won’t be left regretting what you picked.

One of the major aspects of this game is the multiplayer options. I think the gameplay is better here than has been done in any other game before. To start, you can fully explore the open world with your squad of four. As well as this, you can take your friends character builds and play with them even when your friend isn’t online. And by far the greatest feature, when you pass your friends in account points, it gives you the option to send them a taunt which appears the second they log in and is hilariously unmissable. If you’re looking for a game to play with friends this is one of those games that would work perfectly!

This game is one of the best next gen games that we’ve had. The map is absolutely massive and yet always looks absolutely perfect. There are little to no load times (unless you have a bad internet connection and are playing online) and the graphics feel stylised yet it still looks absolutely gorgeous. This game really pushes consoles to the limit and you can definitely tell. Though with this I did notice the game crashed quite a few times whilst I was playing it, though they have addressed these issues and are expecting it will be fixed soon.

Now this game is genuinely great, but it does fail in some places. Inconsistent writing happens multiple times throughout the story, and honestly I was pretty disappointed they didn’t show more of how the justice league got turned given that it feels like such an important plot point. The solid transition can’t help the fact the base story is really quite short, taking me only ten hours to complete even though I spent a lot of time doing side quests. And my only other major complaint is it’s price point. Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League tries so hard to make a point that it should be multiplayer, yet based off of it’s price point it doesn’t feel very accessible without spending extra cash. As well as that, the modern attempt at pushing in-game currencies and a battle pass may least a bad taste in the mouth of many gamers, especially given there’s no organic way to earn these credits, which I’m not really a fan of when you’ve already paid for a full game.

I really enjoy this game and think it’s one of the best superhero games we’ve ever had. And more on that, it’s going to have constant free updates to the story as well as new free characters so it’s not like you don’t have plenty to do. But as of base release I can only justify giving it 4 stars. If you love the Suicide Squad as much as I do, you’ll love this game.

It’s not perfect and maybe the story mode is shorter than most gamers would expect from something like this. But there’s loads to enjoy in this game and its cracking fun. A must play for DC fans!!!

RoboCop – Rogue City

RoboCop – Rogue City review

Robocop fans around the world can rejoice when I say this game is everything a robocop fan could ever want. There’s even a return for Peter Weller in his most iconic role ever!

The game follows a very simple story. Robocop is busting a hostage situation, caused by a gang that distributes the drug Nuke. Whilst doing this, he suffers a fall which causes old memories to flood back into his brain, yet only in small fragments. And so he must take down the gang and stop the illegal drugs from being distributed whilst dealing with his malfunctions.

The gameplay has a very Cyberpunk 2077 and Goldeneye feel to it, with it being a first person shooter, and an assortment of different guns you can use, as well as a brutal melee attack. The movement and gunplay feels very slow and rigid, which in most games would be a downside. But seeing as it’s a Robocop game, it works incredibly well. This is paired with a very high durability, even whilst on the higher difficulties which allows you to fully embrace the Robocop all fans want to be.

The accessibility of this game is really good as well. It’s very much a pick up and play game, with simple enough story so you won’t be left confused after playing it again for a while. As well as having a really useful map guidance, even if it doesn’t necessarily tell you exactly what you need to be doing. And finally the difficulty scaling feels incredibly effective, catering to all audiences who will would want to play the game.

The only one fault this game suffers from, is the graphics. Whilst in play the graphics are fine. But the game has such a reliance on well lit cut scenes and that side of the games graphics let the Robocop: Rogue City down. These scenes don’t stand up to modern next gen games, and not even most PS4 games. That said the game is so much fun, and really enjoyable to play – so the cut scene graphics can be easily ignored.

I really enjoy this Robocop: Rogue City and think if you are a fan of the movie franchise or enjoy first person shooters, you will love this game too.

We really love this game. Is it perfect? No. But, it plays so well and it’s really good fun, so the limitations to some of the graphics can be easily ignored. Goldeneye meets Cyberpunk – Highly Recommended!!!

Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1 review

The Mortal Kombat franchise is now at its 12th installment, yet this game isn’t like any of the others. Long-time Mortal Kombat fans who have played and completed the MK11 story, and will know that this game resides in a completely different timeline from the previous games..

The last Mortal Kombat story left off with Liu Kang resetting the timeline to how he sees fit, with many major differences. This is because, unlike Kronika in MK11, he didn’t seek to perfect the universe and thus let it play out organically, with the exception of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, both of whom they were meant to be unable to learn any magic and live their lives as simple men. However, Kronika is somehow back and has altered their paths, and Liu Kang must find a way to stop them before they take over both the Outerworld and the Earthrealm.

The story plays extended cutscenes and then puts you into 1-on-1 fights with set characters, the character of whom changes every Four fights. This means that the story is perfect for beginners who aren’t familiar with the game, as it allows you to play with every character and learn all of their various moves and decide who to continue the game with as your favourite.

This story is filled with a lot of twists and is really entertaining. Pair that with the “Test Your Might” section being back, where you spam buttons to complete sections in the game. This is a part of the game I love to play and find really entertaining to watch others play too.

The combat, of course, is spectacular. Mortal Kombat strives to be one of the most violent video game franchises of all time, and this one is no different. The iconic fatalities and brutality of the final finish moves are still in the game. And there’s more gore and carnage than ever before.

Mortal Kombat 1 introduces Kameo fighters, of which you can push a button to have them use a move in the game. These Kameo fighters can perform fatalities as well as fatal blows, massively adding to the new games variety during combat (Sorry Kombat). And while talking about the variety, I can’t not mention the amazing arsenal of characters this game has to offer.

Unlike the previous games, many of these playable characters are brand new. However, we see the return of many old favorites we haven’t seen in years, and even some very exciting characters from other franchises like Omni-Man or Homelander that are entering in the game at later stages.

Another staple of Mortal Kombat is the additional game modes. These come in the tower, which lets you choose a character and play through an arsenal of enemies to unlock a secret ending for your character. Invasions, which lets you fight between modes, unlocking items for your fighters. And finally as I mentioned earlier, Test Your Might which has you spam buttons to unlock usable items in the game. Now, add these to the local and online play, and you’ll find yourself with plenty to do and play – it’s unlikely you will ever be left to feel bored!

Finally, as with most games nowadays, the variety of cosmetics also includes an item shop, which refreshes periodically and allows you to customise your characters to your liking. An essential option for the modern gamer!

In general, there aren’t many negatives in this game, other than minor balancing issues between characters that seem slightly weaker than they should be and some fighters that seem almost a bit too strong. In general, it’s very much a “play your way” type of game in the sense that every character can become a force to be reckoned with, when you become good with them. My only minor problem with the game, is that you can no longer choose who you want to play as in the Mortal Kombat story mode.

However, in general, this game looks gorgeous, plays amazingly, and has an incredible story mode. It’s easily a must own for both new and old fans of the franchise!!!

The Mortal Kombat Universe has reset (Hence the Mortal Kombat 1 and not Mortal Kombat 12) and all of our favourite fighting characters are back. All new story mode, characters and obviously grossly brilliant finishing moves. Perfect fun and escapism – Highly Recommended!!!

Dead Space remake

Dead Space remake review

The much loved and highly feared horror game, Dead Space is back and with a brand new look!

Dead Space is a 2008 sci fi horror game made by EA, which focuses on the main character Isaac
Clarke. Isaac and a space craft of maintenance crew members head over to the USG Ishimura, in deep space only to crash land and become stranded. Any other time this wouldn’t be a problem, but unfortunately for them an alien parasite has found its way on board the ship and laid waste to all of the passengers. Now Isaac, along with his arsenal of weapons (various telekinetic abilities and his jet pack) must find a way off of the ship, and survive!

This game is an absolute classic and this new ‘remake’ has some really nice updates. To start with the obvious being the graphics, which have been majorly updated in a way that benefits the style of the game. Also, the ship is far more free roaming now, with many added side quests to enjoy. Along with this, Isaac now has natural voice lines to make it seem more authentic. All of these added extras make it a worthy upgrade purchase.

The major positives to the game are that the story is very cool and has moments of leaving you terrified and helpless. Along with this, the combat has a good level of difficulty. The upgrades have an interesting skill tree system that we don’t usually see, as well as a satisfying suit upgrade system. The gore in this game is really satisfying and definitely bound to ‘freak you out’, as well as the death animations being very creative.

However, this game does lack the high level of scariness compared with modern releases. The jump-scares don’t hit like other games and in general it craves a creepier atmosphere, leaving it lacking in some of the suspense. Similarly, the enemies don’t appear to be very responsive, or perform a challenge in anyway other there to be tough to take down.

I found the deluxe edition to be slightly lackluster in places, but there are many really cool cosmetics in the game for die hard fans.

The Dead Space Remake does feel freshened up, and it’s certainly an upgrade from the original. They’ve
kept a keen eye with a lot of the details and don’t cut corners which is really nice. Although if you’re looking for a horror game, this may not need to be at the top of your list compared to many modern releases. It’s still well worth owning though. And a great game to play.

If you’ve never played this game before, it needs to be played . If you’re a die hard fan of the original version, this is a must own for the collection to see the upgrades.

Call of Duty – Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty – Modern Warfare II review

The sequel to many people’s favourite Call of Duty games is finally here and it’s amazing. But not only this, warzone has been entirely revamped for the launch as well, making it possibly one of the most content-filled games on the market right now.

But before I get into all the new multiplayer mechanics, I’m first going to talk about how amazing the story mode is. So, I was wildly blown away by the story mode. It basically follows the story of a conflict between a Mexican Cartel (and the Mexican army) and the US. Although it has missions that you won’t see in any other game. For example, one mission puts you in an interrogation room where either you play your cards right or you die. Now of course there are many cool missions where you simply sweep houses and defeat enemies so any fans of that won’t be disappointed but people looking for a new challenge will have a great time with this story mode.

The multiplayer is pretty damn good as well.  More customisation with guns and a whole variety of new ways to unlock and level them up. The movement and overall feel of the game is absolutely amazing. I enjoy the gunplay more than any of the recent games and believe its surpasses even MW (2019). Although where it falls short is the maps and time to kill. Most gunfights end before anyone gets a chance to even think and the maps are subpar. Now don’t be deterred, it’s still fun to play although keep in mind a lot of the time you’re going to be left thinking skill wasn’t the reason why you lost the match.

DMZ is completely new for MW2 and a rather fun addition. You load into a game with a few other teams and tons of AI and basically try to get quests done and mess around. It’s good for testing out new guns, warming up or playing casually, but in general it gets boring particularly quickly and isn’t something you’ll get a high adrenaline rush out of. I certainly think it’s a positive even if I also don’t think this will be a go to for most people.

Now finally, Warzone 2.0 is basically perfect. You can now talk to enemies whilst playing to cooperate or trash. The island and new features like dolphin diving or buying custom weapons from buy stations work very well. And the entire game mode appears to have been positively revamped with the release of the new game. The gulag has also had a few positive change, with a new map, a new way to win by killing the prisoner and weapons increasing in rarity as the match goes on. However, my one main issue with it is that I feel as though the two man gulag sort of defeats the premise and is a bad change. Other than that, Warzone 2 is insanely good and anyone who’s a fan of the last will live this.

Finally with a new game comes a new battle pass, and the new battle pass system is great. You can go through the map choosing what items you will get meaning it feels more custom to you, and you have to wait less to get a weapon you really want (with the exception of the tier 100 blueprint and operator).

So overall it’s a really good instalment and a great triumph to the gaming franchise!!!
