Ireke: Rise of The Maroons

By HOME ENT

Ireke: Rise of The Maroons review by Alex

Ireke: Rise of The Maroons is a drama movie Directed by Gbolahan Peter Macjob. Starring Tobi Bakre as Atanda, a young prince betrayed and sold into slavery by his uncle, now spending his days on a plantation in Jamaica. However a looming rebellion and a forbidden love draw him into an alliance with The Maroons, to ultimately lead the charge against the colonial world.

For the low budget the team had to work with for production, I was very impressed with the camera work and practical effects, it really nailed in the brutality of the working conditions and what the slaves were subject to on a near daily basis. The key dialogue from the cast was good all around, throughout the films immersion was on point and I feel that the overall environment followed director Macjob’s vision. There were a few minor aspects of the movie that gave away the smaller production budget, however I feel that these did not detract from the main storytelling aspect of the film.

Youth #Gottit View:

This is a really important story that should be seen by everyone. If while watching, you can put aside the small budget for making this film – this has every other element needed for what we’ve come to expect from a great Historical Holywood epic. An uncomfortable watch at times – but well worth watching!!!

DC Studios – Superman review by Con!!!

Youth #Gottit View:

We liked Superman. But struggled to love it as much as we wanted to. It’s fun, action packed and full of coulour. This DC film feels far more like what we’ve come to expect from the Marvel movies and that’s not personally what we look for in DC films. David is great as Superman/Clark though!!!

Youth #Gottit View:

I always go into spin off movies expecting to be a bit duped as a fan. But Ballerina is very much a John Wick film – nobody will be disappointed. Think Kill Bill with the characters of John Wick and that’s Ballerina – an absolutely incredible action film. Highly Recommended!!!

Youth #Gottit View:

If you love the John Wick franchise you are in for a treat. This is every inch a John Wick movie – action packed, full of unique fight scenes and our John turns up just enough and with relevant reasons, to make fans feel like they’ve not been duped with another pointless spin-off. Kill Bill meets John Wick – Highly Recommended!!!

Final Destination Bloodlines

Final Destination Bloodlines review by Alex

Final Destination: Bloodlines is the 6th instalment in the Supernatural Horror movie franchise: Final Destination. Stefani Reyes (played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana) is a college student who is plagued by a recurring nightmare from the perspective of her Grandmother, she returns home to her family to try and uncover more information about what may be in store for herself and her family.

I like how this film teases you of what’s coming ahead and how things are often times set in motion happening around the characters, I feel it helps to reinforce the supernatural element of the film and how pretty much everything is connected. The blood, gore, and other special effects were great as always, and the little nods to previous instalments (you’ll know ‘em when you see them) are great to see too.

It is a solid fit into the Supernatural / Horror genres and with Final Destination as a franchise you know what you’re in for and it doesn’t disappoint. Whether you’re returning to the franchise, brand new, or only watched the first film, you’re in for an entertaining watch. While I don’t see it as a major award winner, I’d say it’s definitely what the fans have been looking for and a great watch after a near 14 year hiatus since the previous instalment.

Youth #Gottit View:

I personally like the Final Destination movies I’ve seen. I can’t say I’m a ‘Die-Hard’ fan, but I loved this new movie and it can be watched as a solo film, for anyone who’s never seen any of the others. It’s so self aware of what horror fans expect from it and offers such a fun cinamatic experince!!!
